SAARC -- Agri Corporation Buisness Forum

Introduction - The first south Asian association for regional corporation (SAARC) Agri cooperative business forum held in Kathmandu, Nepal. The theme of three- day forum is the ‘Organizing and Strengthening Family Farmers’ cooperatives to attain the sustainable development- goals -1 and 2 in south Asia. Which are: -

Goal 1 – “End poverty in all its forms everywhere”
Goal 2 – “End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture”
It is being co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and Asian Farmers Association with the support from the International Fund for Agriculture Development.
It provided platform to bring together representative both from government and non-government entities from members states of SAARC as well as from regional and international organizations.

What are Sustainable Development goals?
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
These 17 Goals build on the success of the Millennium Development Goals, while including new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, innovation sustainable consumption, peace and justice, among other priorities. The goals are interconnected—often the key to success on one will involve the tackling issue more commonly associated with other.
As the lead UN development agency, UNDP is uniquely placed to help implement the goals through work in some 170 countries and territories.


South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC)

SAARC is regional intergovernmental organization and geopolitical union of nations in South Asia. Its member states include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Maldives, Pakistan and Sir Lanka. It comprises 3% of world’s area 21% of world’s population and 3.8 of global economy as of 2015.

It was established in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1985. It secretariat is based in Kathmandu, Nepal. It promotes development of economic and regional integration. It also maintains permanent diplomatic relations at United Nation as an observer.

Conclusion- Such Cooperation Business Forum are crucial to achieve the targets as these bring experts and policymakers together to learn and attain the similar objective.  Poverty and hunger lead to another chaos, and due to global warming and various other reasons- The food has to be priority so that millions who still don't get the food, can afford food in upcoming time.
