The Life and Times of Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle has had quite an eventful journey since marrying into the Royal Family. From tabloid gossip to an estranged father, this Suits actress has experienced it all.

She is well known for her charitable endeavors. She has worked with numerous organizations in order to empower women.

What Made Her So Popular?

Meghan Markle has long been an American public figure; however, her philanthropic work, royal duties, television appearances and podcast, Archetypes has gained her more fans recently.

The Duchess has several passions, including yoga (which she began practicing at age 7), calligraphy and cuisine. Previously she ran The Tig, an effort designed to "reframe beauty content to include think pieces about self-empowerment and features dynamic women."

Her big break came in 2011 when she was cast as Paralegal Rachel Zane on USA Network Legal Drama Suits and remained with it throughout seven seasons.

She has also appeared in some television movies and had small roles in Hollywood films like Get Him to the Greek and Horrible Bosses. Additionally, she serves as an UN Women's Advocate as well as helping World Vision with their Clean Water Campaign.

Meghan hasn't been spared criticism either. For instance, she faced backlash for how she held her son at a polo match; Meghan responded that she simply followed pediatrician advice in this regard. In addition, on her podcast she detailed her parenting style based on personal belief - believing her approach will best benefit their son.

Why Is She Controversial?

Meghan Markle led an eventful life as an actress, activist and entrepreneur before her relationship with Prince Harry became public. However, not everyone approved of Meghan's choices; consequently she has experienced significant criticism since their relationship was made known to the world.

As the first openly black woman to marry into the Royal Family, Meghan has been subjected to much controversy from both media outlets and members of her own family. Many media outlets have reported instances of racist discrimination towards Meghan that have spanned across several days or weeks - from gossip columns and television news programs all the way through family reunions and funerals.

Even prior to her engagement to Harry, the press was highly critical of Meghan's career choice. Some felt she was too old for the role and some focused on her finances.

As a result, her image in the public sphere was marred. After giving birth in 2018, she decided to step away from acting and focus on charity work instead - although critics still accused her of giving up Hollywood or neglecting her children by choosing that path instead of charity work. Other complain about wardrobe malfunctions or wardrobe mishaps including when she accidentally wore see-through skirt without anyone realizing.

Who Is She?

Meghan Markle has built an illustrious career as an actress, writer, blogger, humanitarian, and member of the royal family - she even earned her title of Duchess of Sussex at her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018. Together they had one child, whom they named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor after Princess Diana.

Before she met Prince Harry, Markle was best-known for her role as Rachel Zane on the television legal drama Suits. Additionally, she appeared as a bit player in several Hollywood films such as Get Him to the Greek, Remember Me and Horrible Bosses as well as acting as briefcase girl on Deal or No Deal in America.

Markle has also contributed writing for Elle UK and run her lifestyle blog The Tig. Additionally, Markle enjoys cooking, calligraphy, yoga and charitable causes that support women's rights - her first project as the Duchess of Sussex being the World Vision clean water campaign in Africa; more controversial still was an interview she gave on Oprah Winfrey that addressed tabloid rumors as well as suicidal thoughts in relation to being part of royal life for the first time.
